My research program over the last years has centered around the following research questions: (1) how phonetic/phonological categories form in the human mind and how acoustic aspects of speech production differ across speakers, populations and languages, (2) how fine phonetic details and differences shape the production versus perception of speech sound categories, (3) how speech production influences speech perception and vice versa and, (4) whether the acoustic signal or the underlying articulatory setting is more relevant for robust speech sound perception.
